Alok Ranjan retires; MHA gives NCRB, BPR&D charge to Sanjay Mathur, Ravi Joseph Lokku

Following the retirement of Alok Ranjan, the Ministry of Home Affairs has assigned additional charge of NCRB to Sanjay Mathur and BPR&D to Ravi Joseph Lokku.

Senior IPS officer Alok Ranjan (IPS:1991:MP), Director of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) with additional charge of Director General, Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), retired from service on Tuesday (June 30, 2026). Following his retirement, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) redistributed the additional responsibilities by assigning them to two senior IPS officers.

Sanjay Mathur (IPS:1994:TN), Inspector General, National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), has been entrusted with the additional charge of Director, NCRB. According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, he will hold the charge till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Ravi Joseph Lokku (IPS:1995:UP), Additional Director General, Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D), has been assigned the additional charge of Director General, BPR&D. He will hold the additional charge till the appointment of a regular incumbent or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
