Senior IAS officer Rebecca Vanessa Suchiang (IAS:1989:AM) has been appointed as Meghalaya’s Chief Secretary. She will replace M S Rao (IAS:1987:AM), who is retiring from service on September 30.
Ms Suchiang would be the first Khasi women to become the top executive of the state in the Meghalaya’s Administration annals since its statehood in 1972. PP Trivedi was the first woman chief secretary of Meghalaya
in the late 80s.
Presently, Suchiang is serving as Additional Chief Secretary, Personnel & A.R. Cabinet Affairs, Finance, Home (Police), Political, Home (Passport), Home (CD&HG), Ex-Officio Director General, MATI and Chairman-cum-MD, MeECL.
