The Union Government notified the appointment of Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud as the Acting Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.

Justice TA Goud will act as the Chief Justice from 23.02.2023 after the retirement of Justice Jaswant Singh, Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.

A notification issued by the Ministry of Law and Justice on Tuesday said, “In exercise of the power conferred by Article 223 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint, Justice Todupunuri Amarnath Goud (PHC: Telangana), senior-most puisne Judge of the Tripura High Court, to perform the duties of the office of the Chief Justice of that High Court with effect from February 23, 2023, consequent upon the retirement of Jaswant Singh, Chief Justice of Tripura High Court.”

Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh has already been recommended for the position of Chief Justice of Tripura High Court by the Supreme Court Collegium. He is the seniormost Judge in the Jharkhand High Court.

Earlier in November 2022, Justice Goud was made the Acting Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court, after the superannuation of then Chief Justice Indrajit Mahanty.
