The CBI has arrested IAS officer Rajiv Ranjan along with a retired bureaucrat Itrit Hussain Rafiqi in connection with the issuance of large number of arms licenses on the basis of forged documents in Jammu and Kashmir.
It is alleged that J&K bureaucrats in cahoots with other accused issued arms licences to non-residents in violation of rules between 2012 and 2016 and received illegal gratification.
The investigation agency last December registered a case on the allegations that during the period 2012 to 2016, the Deputy Commissioners of various districts of J&K including District Kupwara had fraudulently and illegally issued bulk arms licenses in lieu of monetary consideration.
