The Jharkhand government on Thursday (28.11.2024) appointed Anurag Gupta (IPS:1990:JH), as Director General of Police (in-charge) of the state. Currently, he is serving as DG of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). He replaces incumbent Ajay Kumar Singh (IPS:1989:JH), who has been transferred to Jharkhand Police Housing Corporation Limited as Managing Director.
It is pertinent to mention here, Gupta was previously removed from the DGP post on October 19 following Election Commission of India’s directives.
In civil administration changes, Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Varun Ranjan (IAS:2014:JH) has been transferred and posted as Managing Director, Jharkhand Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation with additional charge of Mines Commissioner. Manjunath Bhajantri (IAS:2011:JH), currently serving as CEO of Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society, will take over as Ranchi DC.
Previously, Bhajantri held the position of Ranchi DC but was removed on October 15 as per ECI orders during the election process.
In another significant development, Ajit Peter Dungdung has been re-instatated as Deoghar SP. He was removed from this position during elections and posted as Commandant of Jharkhand Armed Police-5.
