The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on Monday (May 18, 2026) appointed Gunveer Singh as Executive Director (ED) with effect from May 18, 2026.
Prior to his elevation, Singh was serving as Chief General Manager-in-Charge of the Department of Payment and Settlement Systems of the Reserve Bank.
Notably, just a day before his appointment, RBI had empanelled five senior officers for holding the post of Executive Director, including Gunveer Singh. The other officers in the panel are Monisha Chakraborty, Suman Ray, Sudhakar Malli and Ravi Shanker. The remaining four officers are expected to be appointed as Executive Directors on different dates as vacancies arise following the retirement of existing EDs.
As Executive Director, Singh will oversee the Department of Payment and Settlement Systems.
A Chartered Accountant and Cost and Works Accountant by qualification, Singh takes over the role with extensive experience in the payments and regulatory ecosystem.
