Govt approves 12 ED appointments at Public Sector Banks

The central government has given its approval for the appointment of 12 General Managers to serve as Executive Directors (EDs) within various Public Sector Banks (PSBs). According to insider information, on Saturday, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet officially sanctioned the appointments of these 12 EDs.

The central government has given its approval for the appointment of 12 General Managers to serve as Executive Directors (EDs) within various Public Sector Banks (PSBs). According to insider information, on Saturday, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet officially sanctioned the appointments of these 12 EDs.

As per the official announcement, Sanjay Rudra, currently a General Manager at Bank of Maharashtra, has been designated as the ED for Union Bank of India. Similarly, Vijaykumar N Kamble, another General Manager from Bank of Maharashtra, will assume the role of ED at UCO Bank. In another significant move, Bhavendra Kumar, who presently holds the position of Chief General Manager at Canara Bank, has been promoted to the rank of ED within the same bank.

Additionally, Bibhu Prasad Mahapatra, the Chief General Manager at Punjab National Bank, has been promoted to the position of ED within the bank. Ravi Mehra, currently a General Manager, has also been elevated to serve as ED at Punjab & Sind Bank. Rajiv Mishra, currently the Chief General Manager at Union Bank of India, will assume the role of ED at Bank of India. Brajesh Kumar Singh, who holds the position of Chief General Manager at Bank of Baroda, will join Indian Bank as ED in March.

Furthermore, Rohit Rishi, currently serving as Chief General Manager at Indian Bank, is set to take over as ED at Bank of Maharashtra next month. Additionally, the government has given the green light for the appointment of Lal Singh as ED at Bank of Baroda, Shiv Bajrang Singh as ED at Indian Bank, Mahendra Dohare as ED at Central Bank of India, and Dhanaraj T as ED at Indian Overseas Bank.

It is noteworthy that in July 2023, the Financial Services Institutions Bureau (FSIB) had recommended 16 candidates for the position of Executive Directors (EDs) in public sector banks (PSBs).

India currently has 12 public sector banks, namely Bank of Baroda, Bank of India, Bank of Maharashtra, Canara Bank, Central Bank of India, Indian Bank, Indian Overseas Bank, Punjab & Sind Bank, Punjab National Bank, State Bank of India, UCO Bank, and Union Bank of India.
