The relocation of Union Government ministries to the Central Vista office complex is set to begin soon, according to highly-placed government sources. Meetings and deliberations for the initial phase of the move have already commenced.

Fifteen ministries under the Union Government have been identified to be relocated to the integrated hi-tech office complex. The Ministry of Finance (MoF) would be the first to be shifted from North Block to Central Vista. Of the six departments under the Finance Ministry, Revenue, Expenditure, DEA are housed in North Block. Besides, Financial Services is located at Sansad Marg and DIPAM & DPE in CGO Complex. Over a dozen other ministries would also be shifted.

The deadline for shifting is March 2025.

As per sources, a fresh round of meetings and deliberations started last week in this regard. This assumes significance as the timeline for the completion of Central Vista has been revised from 2031 to 2027-28. The Lok Sabha elections are to be held in 2029.

Interestingly, the proposed Yuge Yugeen Bharat Museum (YYBM) is going to be set up in North and South blocks—twin secretariat buildings on the Raisina Hill. The twin complexes could be vacated by mid-2025. The construction of three buildings of Common Central Secretariat (CCS), that comprises 10 buildings, under the Central Vista redevelopment project will be expedited so that the two administrative blocks, which currently house the offices of ministries like home, finance and defence, could be vacated by mid-2025.
