Top Central government official, Deepa Tyagi has been given additional charge at the helm of Telecommunication Engineering Centre, a testing and certification agency of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
Tyagi, who was working as deputy director-general will now hold additional charge as senior deputy director-general at the engineering centre.
With allegations of data espionage prompting the government to raise the scrutiny bar on Chinese made telecom equipment, the Telecommunication Engineering Centre has already started mandatory testing of telecom products and equipment in a phased manner.
The Centre has strategic plans to expand the existing testing labs or centres.
