The central deputation tenure of senior IAS officer D Thara (IAS:1995:GJ) as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs has been extended.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Saturday (June 13, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal to extend her deputation tenure up to December 5, 2026 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Her existing tenure was scheduled to end on July 28, 2026.
Notably, Thara has been serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs since December 5, 2021, when she was granted in-situ upgradation to the post.
She had joined the Ministry on July 29, 2019 as Joint Secretary under the Central Staffing Scheme for a tenure of five years.
In November 2023, DoPT issued an order specifying that she would continue to hold the upgraded post till December 5, 2024. Subsequently, in November 2024, her central deputation tenure was extended beyond December 5, 2024 up to July 28, 2026.
With the latest order, her tenure at the Centre now stands extended up to December 5, 2026.
