The Supreme Court has ruled that the office of Chief Justice of India is public authority under the purview of the Right to Information Act. This comes after petitions challenged the Delhi High Court’s decision of bringing the CJI office under the Act in 2010. The judgement was given by the five-judge Constitution bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi.
