Chhattisgarh government’s move to appoint retired IAS officer Alok Shukla as Principal Secretary on contract basis for three years has raised the heckles of opposition, since the former bureaucrat was named in the multi-crore PDS scam in 2015.
Shukla who superannuated on May 30, is back as with the charge of legislative affairs, and additional charge of school education department. Shukla will continue to retain all his previous departments too.
The opposition, led by the BJP has pointed out, that a person facing a departmental inquiry or any prosecution cannot be appointed on contract.
Shukla was principal secretary of food and civil supplies in 2015, when the PDS scam surfaced. He is one the two IAS along with other officers, who were named in the scam.
