The Union government on Friday (10.02.2023) notified the appointment of two more judges to the Supreme Court of India. The government issued a notice of the appointment of Justice Rajesh Bindal and Justice Arvind Kumar, currently, the Chief Justices of Allahabad and Gujarat High Courts respectively, as Judges of the Supreme Court.

With their appointments, the Supreme Court will have the full working strength of 34 Judges.
On January 31, 2023, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended their names for elevation.

A judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, Justice Bindal was acting Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court before he was appointed Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court in October 2021. He will hold the position for more than two years, until April 15, 2025.
Justice Kumar was a judge in the Karnataka High Court before he was appointed Chief Justice of the Gujarat High Court. He will hold the office for over three years until July 13, 2026.
