The Centre has granted a second extension in service to Haryana Chief Secretary Anurag Rastogi (IAS:1990:HY) for a period of six months, approving the recommendation of the state government.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (June 30, 2026), Rastogi’s service has been extended from July 1, 2026, to December 31, 2026, by relaxing Rule 16(1) of the All India Services (Death-cum-Retirement Benefits) Rules, 1958.

Rastogi was originally due to retire in June 2025 but was granted a one-year extension by the Centre. With the expiry of that extended tenure on June 30, 2026, the Nayab Singh Saini-led Haryana government sought another extension to retain him in the top bureaucratic post.

The extension proposal was approved by the Central Government, and the order was received by the Haryana Government’s General Administration Department on Tuesday evening.
