Prabhat Kumar concurrently accredited as High Commissioner of India to Lesotho

Prabhat Kumar (IFS:1991) has been concurrently accredited as the next High Commissioner of India to the Kingdom of Lesotho. Presently, he is serving as High Commissioner of India to the Republic of South Africa and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.

Empanelment of three IOFS officers at Joint Secretary level in GoI

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Wednesday (18.10.2023) approved the empanelment of three Indian Ordnance Factory Service (IOFS) officers for holding Joint Secretary /Joint Secretary equivalent rank posts in the Government of India.

They are :

  1. Virendra Kumar Andhana
  2. Prem Prakash
  3. Anjan Kumar Mishra

Sanjay Kumar gets addl. charge of Secretary, Department of Higher Education

Sanjay Kumar (IAS:1990:BH), who currently serves as the Secretary of the Department of School Education & Literacy, has been entrusted with an additional significant responsibility. In an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday, October 20, 2023, Mr. Kumar has been appointed to the position of Secretary for the Department of Higher Education.

This decision to assign him this additional charge was approved by the competent authority. The additional responsibility is set to take effect from October 21, 2023, and it will extend through November 29, 2023. The need for this additional assignment arises from the temporary absence on leave of Sanjay Murthy (IAS:1989:HP). During this period, Sanjay Kumar will adeptly handle the responsibilities of both the Department of School Education & Literacy and the Department of Higher Education.

Ajay Seth gets addl. charge of Secretary, Department of Expenditure

Ajay Seth (IAS:1987:KN), currently holding the position of Secretary in the Department of Economic Affairs, has been entrusted with an additional significant responsibility. As per an official order released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday, October 20, 2023, Mr. Seth will be taking on the role of Secretary for the Department of Expenditure.

This additional charge assignment was authorized by the competent authority and will be in effect from October 21, 2023, through November 5, 2023. The decision to assign this additional responsibility stems from the temporary absence of TV Somanathan (IAS:1987:TN), who is on leave during this period. During his tenure as the Secretary of the Department of Expenditure, Ajay Seth will manage these new responsibilities alongside his existing duties as the Secretary of the Department of Economic Affairs.

Sunil Kumar gets additional charge as CVO for DoT, BSNL, and MTNL

Sunil Kumar Verma (IRSSE:1995), who currently serves as Joint Secretary in the Department of Telecommunication, has been assigned additional responsibilities. He has been given the additional charge of the post of Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) for the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Ltd (MTNL).

This decision was officially approved as per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday, October 20, 2023. The competent authority has endorsed the proposal to entrust Mr. Verma with these additional charges. These responsibilities were assigned during the absence of the regular CVO of DoT due to ex-India leave. The period of this additional charge assignment was from September 16, 2023, to October 3, 2023, and it has been approved ex-post facto.

Chandani Gupta will continue to hold addl. charge of CVO, BRCIL

Chandani Gupta (IES:2007), who currently serves as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO), The Braithwaite, Burn & Jessop Construction Company Ltd. (BBJ), Kolkata, has been granted an extension to continue holding the additional charge of CVO, Bridge & Roof Company (India) Ltd. (BRCIL), Kolkata.

The decision for this extension was approved as per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on a Wednesday, October 18, 2023. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its consent to extend the additional charge of the post of CVO, BRICIL. This extension will be in effect from September 4, 2023, and continue until December 15, 2023, which coincides with the deputation tenure of Ms. Gupta as CVO at BBJ, or until further orders are issued, whichever takes place earlier.

B Kasiviswanathan’s tenure as CVO of ITI curtailed

The tenure of B Kasiviswanathan (IRSME:1992) as Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) of Indian Telephone Industries Ltd (ITI) in Bengaluru curtailed. This curtailment of his deputation tenure is due to his new appointment as Chairperson at the Cochin Port Authority in Kochi.

The decision to curtail his deputation tenure as CVO at ITI was officially approved through an order from the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday, October 18, 2023. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its approval for this change.

Nijamuddin will continue to hold addl. charge of CVO, Cement Corporation of India

Nijamuddin (ITS:2004), who currently serves as the Chief Vigilance Officer (CVO) at Engineering Project India Ltd (EPIL) in Delhi, has been granted an extension to continue holding the additional charge of CVO at Cement Corporation of India Ltd. (CCI) in Delhi.

The decision for this extension was approved as per an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on a Wednesday. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has given its consent to extend the additional charge of the post of CVO at CCI. This extension will be in effect from October 23, 2023, and continue until September 13, 2024, which coincides with the deputation tenure of Nijamuddin as CVO at EPIL, or until further orders are issued, whichever takes place earlier.

Ashwini Naidu gets extension as Director (Auctions), Tobacco Board, Bengaluru

The deputation tenure of Ashwini Naidu (IFS:2008) in his role as Director (Auctions) at the Tobacco Board in Bengaluru, has been extended for an additional year. This extension was officially approved according to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday, October 19, 2023. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has granted consent to the Department of Commerce’s proposal to prolong Mr. Naidu’s deputation tenure. This extension covers a period of one year beyond October 6, 2023, and will last until October 6, 2024, or until further instructions are received, whichever occurs earlier.

Rasika Chaube re-employed as Financial Adviser(Defence Services) in Ministry of Defence

Rasika Chaube (IDAS:1986) has been granted a re-employment opportunity as the Financial Adviser(Defence Services) in the Ministry of Defence on contract basis. This re-employment decision was formally sanctioned through an order released by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday, October 18, 2023.

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has endorsed the re-employment of Mr. Chaube for an initial period of five months, commencing on November 1, 2023, and concluding on March 31, 2024, or until further directives are issued, whichever comes earlier. The terms and conditions governing this re-employment are consistent with the standard requirements applicable to re-employed central government officials.
