IAS Officer Krishna Kumar Dwivedi returns to parent cadre on Assam Government’s request

Krishna Kumar Dwivedi (IAS:1996:AM), who served as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, has been repatriated to his parent cadre. The Department of Personnel and Training issued an order on Friday, November 3, 2023, announcing that the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet has approved Mr. Dwivedi’s repatriation to his parent cadre based on the Assam government’s request, along with the imposition of an extended cooling-off period.

179 newly selected IAS officers allocated Cadres

The Union Government has allocated cadres to 179 newly selected IAS officers on Thursday.

An order regarding allocation of cadres to 179 officers has been issued by Ministry of Personnel which is as under:

Tamil Nadu’s Former DGP (Vigilance) Braj Kishore Ravi Joins Congress

Former Tamil Nadu Director General of Police (DGP) (Vigilance), Braj Kishore Ravi (IPS:1989:TN), officially joined the Congress on Thursday in New Delhi, in the presence of party MPs Akhilesh Prasad Singh and Naseer Hussain.

Ravi expressed his commitment to campaigning for the Congress in Bihar, his home state, and also expressed a willingness to participate in campaign efforts in Tamil Nadu. It’s worth noting that Ravi was scheduled to retire at the year-end but chose to retire three months earlier, on September 30.

Ravi comes from a family with strong Congress ties in Bihar. His father, Tul Mohan Ram, was not only a freedom fighter but also served as a three-term Lok Sabha member. Hailing from Saharsa district in Bihar, Ravi holds the distinction of being the second most senior DGP-ranking official from the Tamil Nadu cadre.

Advocate Kaushik Goswami appointed as Additional Judge of Gauhati HC

The Union government on Thursday (02.11.2023) notified the appointment of Advocate Kaushik Goswami as an Additional Judge of the Gauhati High Court. As per the official notification, Senior Advocate Kaushik Goswami will be serving in this position appointed by the central government- for a tenure of two years from the day he assumes charge of his office.

On October 17, the Supreme Court Collegium recommended the names of two Advocates for the appointment as Additional Judges of the Gauhati High Court. Notably, the Union government seems to have delayed the processing of Senior Counsel Unni Krishnan Nair’s name, which was also proposed in the same Collegium resolution that recommended Senior Advocate Goswami’s appointment.

Three Advocates appointed as Additional Judges in Punjab and Haryana HC

The Union government on Thursday notified the appointment of three Advocates as Additional Judges of Punjab and Haryana High Court. They have been appointed for a period of two years, in that order of seniority, with effect from the date they assume charge of their respective offices.

They are;

  1. Sumeet Goel
  2. Sudeepti Sharma
  3. Kirti Singh

The Supreme Court Collegium had on October 17 recommended names of five Advocates for appointment as Judges of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. However, as per the notification, only three of those advocates have been cleared for appointment.

Two Judicial Officers appointed as Judges in Patna HC

The Union government on Thursday (02.11.2023) notified the appointment of two Judicial Officers as Judges of Patna High Court.

The Judicial Officers are appointed as Judges are;

  1. Rudra Prakash Mishra
  2. Ramesh Chand Malviya

The Supreme Court Collegium had on October 17 recommended their names for appointment as judges of the Patna High Court.

Madhya Pradesh HC gets seven Judges

The Union government on Thursday (02.11.2023) notified the appointment of five Judicial Officers and two Advocates as Judges of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.

The Judicial Officers who have been appointed as Judges are as follows:

  1. Rajendra Kumar Vani
  2. Pramod Kumar Agrawal
  3. Binod Kumar Dwivedi
  4. Devnarayan Mishra
  5. Gajendra Singh

The Advocates appointed as Judges are:

  1. Vinay Saraf
  2. Vivek Jain

These appointments are the result of recommendations made by the Supreme Court Collegium on October 17. The Collegium also recommended two more Advocates, Ashish Shroti and Amit Seth, for appointment as High Court Judges. However, a decision on these names is pending.

SC Collegium recommends appointment of Justice Siddhartha Roy Chowdhury as Permanent Judge of Calcutta HC

The Supreme Court Collegium on Tuesday recommended Additional Judge Siddhartha Roy Chowdhury for appointment as a Permanent Judge of the Calcutta High Court.

On 05-04-2023, the Chief Justice of the High Court at Calcutta made the afore-stated recommendation in consultation with his two senior-most colleagues, with the Chief Minister and the Governor of the State of West Bengal having concurred with the recommendation. The above proposal was placed before the Supreme Court Collegium on 12-07-2023.

However, on an overall consideration of the proposal, the Collegium deferred consideration of the proposal. Having then scrutinized and evaluated the material placed on record and considered all the aspects of the proposal, the Collegium on 31-10-2023 resolved to recommend the appointment of Justice Siddhartha Roy Chowdhury as Permanent Judge of Calcutta High Court.

SC Collegium recommends new Chief Justices for three High Courts

The Supreme Court collegium on Thursday (02.11.2023) recommended the appointment of Chief Justices of three high courts- Meghalaya, Orissa and Uttarakhand.

They are;

  1. Justice Ritu Bahri, senior puisne judge of the High Court of Punjab and Haryana, as Chief Justice of Uttarakhand High Court.
  2. Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh, senior puisne judge in the Patna High Court, as Chief Justice of the High Court of Orissa.
  3. Justice S. Vaidyanathan, senior puisne judge in Madras High Court, as Chief Justice of the Meghalaya High Court.

The Collegium has largely followed the norms of merit, seniority, and integrity of the judges in its recommendations.

Chandigarh: Selection for UT Adviser’s successor underway, four IAS officers’ names in circulation

Following the retirement of UT Adviser Dharam Pal (IAS:1988:AGMUT) on October 31, UT Home Secretary Nitin Kumar Yadav (IAS:2000:HY) has assumed additional responsibilities as UT Adviser. He has dedicated over two years of service to the city. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is yet to announce his replacement.

According to inside sources, four senior IAS officers are being considered for the UT Adviser position, including the Chief Secretaries of Goa and Arunachal Pradesh. Among the contenders are Arunachal Pradesh Chief Secretary Dharmendra (IAS:1989:AGMUT) and Principal Secretary Dr. Sharad Chauhan (IAS:1994:AGMUT). Mr. Chauhan is also serving in Arunachal Pradesh.

Other candidates in the running for the position include Goa Chief Secretary Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel (IAS:1991:AGMUT) and New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) Chairperson Amit Yadav (IAS:1991:AGMUT).
