Two IFoS officers empanelled as Joint Secretary in GoI

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Thursday (18.04.2024) approved the empanelment of two officers from the Indian Forest Service (IFoS) for the rank of Joint Secretary or equivalent posts.

They are;

  1. Rajesh Ravindran (IFoS:1995:KL)
  2. R Raghu Prasad (IFoS:1997:OR)

Anu Nagar gets two years extension as JS in Department of Health Research

The central deputation tenure of Anu Nagar (IFoS:1995:HP) as Joint Secretary in the Department of Health Research has been extended for a period of two years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (18.04.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Department of Health Research to extend the deputation tenure of Anu Nagar for two years beyond 29.05.2024 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Rupali Banerjee gets extension as Member Secretary, NCPCR

The tenure of Rupali Banerjee (CSS) as Member Secretary, National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) in the Ministry of Women & Child Development has been extended. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Trainig (DoPT) on Thursday (18.04.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of the Ministry of Women & Child Development to extend the tenure of Rupali Banerjee beyond 02.06.2024 till her superannuation i.e. upto 28.02.2025 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Narpat Singh appointed Railway Adviser in High Commission of India, Dhaka

Narpat Singh (IRTS:2009) has been appointed to the post of Railway Adviser in the High Commission of India, Dhaka, Bangladesh for three years. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (18.04.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal of Ministry of Railways to appoint Narpat Singh to the post with the diplomatic status as Counsellor (with RG) for three years.

Shantmanu gets extension as AS & FA in M/o Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution

The central deputation tenure of Shantmanu (IAS:1991:AGMUT) as Additional Secretary & Financial Advisor in the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution has been extended. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (18.04.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved to extend the deputation tenure of Shantmanu for one year beyond 14.05.2024 i.e. up to 14.05.2025 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

ACC effects reshuffle at Additional Secretary level

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet on Thursday (18.04.2024) approved bureaucratic reshuffle at Additional Secretary. Some IAS officials have been re-assigned new responsibilities, while others have been granted in-situ upgrades to the level of Additional Secretary.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

  1. Rakesh Kumar Verma (IAS:1993:PB), presently serving as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tourism, has been transferred and appointed as Additional Secretary, Department of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Rejuvenation, Ministry of Jal Shakti.
  2. Suman Billa (IAS:1996:KL), presently in the cadre, has been appointed as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Tourism in place of Rakesh Kumar Verma (IAS:1993:PB).
  3. Aradhana Patnaik (IAS:1998:JH), presently serving as Joint Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare, has been appointed as Additional Secretary, Department of Health & Family Welfare.

The ACC has also approved in-situ upgradation of the following officers to the level of Additional Secretary.

  1. Himani Pande (IAS:1998:JH), Joint Secretary, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) has been upgraded as Additional Secretary, DPIIT.
  2. Kamal Kishore Soan (IAS:1998:JH), Joint Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment has been upgraded as Additional Secretary, Ministry of Labour & Employment.

Sapna Tewari appointed Special Director, IB

Senior IPS officer Sapna Tewari (IPS:1992:OR), currently serving as Additional Director in the Intelligence Bureau (IB), has been appointed as Special Director, IB, for a two-year term. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (18.04.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Sapna Tewari’s appointment to the post on an in-situ basis for two years, up to the date of her superannuation, i.e., 30.04.2024, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Nalin Prabhat appointed as DG of NSG

Senior IPS officer Nalin Prabhat (IPS:1992:AP) has been appointed as Director General (DG) of National Security Guard (NSG). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (18.04.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Nalin Prabhat’s appointment to the post until 31.08.2028, i.e., until his superannuation date or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Currently, Nalin Prabhat serves as the Additional Director General (ADG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). He will succeed Daljit Singh Chaudhary (IPS:1990:UP), who is temporarily holding the additional charge of the DG, NSG, following the retirement of MP Ganapathy (IPS:1986:UK) on February 29, 2024. It’s worth noting that Daljit Singh Chaudhary holds the position of DG, SSB.

Justice Gurusiddaiah Basavaraja appointed Additional Judge in Karnataka HC for another one year

The Union government on Monday (15.04.2024) notified the appointment of Justice Gurusiddaiah Basavaraja as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court for a tenure of one year with effect from 16.08.2024. This decision follows the recommendation made by the Supreme Court Collegium on April 3, endorsing his appointment as an Additional Judge of the Karnataka High Court for another one-year term.

Five Additional Judges made permanent in Karnataka High Court

The Union government on Monday (15.04.2024) notified the appointment of five Additional Judges of the Karnataka High Court as Judges of that High Court.

They are;

  1. Justice Cheppudira Monnappa Poonacha
  2. Justice Anil Bheemsen Katti
  3. Justice Chandrashekhar Mrutyunjaya Joshi
  4. Justice Umesh Manjunathbhai Adiga
  5. Justice Talked Girigowda Shivashankare Gowda

The Supreme Court Collegium had approved the proposal for appointing the five Additional Judges of Karnataka High Court as Permanent Judges of the Court vide notification dated April 3, 2024.
