Naveen Srivastava selected as Director (Operations), POWERGRID

Power Grid Corporation of India

Naveen Srivastava has been selected as Director (Operations), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) at a Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) meeting held on May 17, 2024. Presently, he is serving as Executive Director, Northern Region III, Power Grid Corporation Of India Limited

He will be appointed to the post of Director (Operations) after receiving vigilance clearances and approval from the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

Deputation of IAS officer Vijay Namdeorao Zade to UT of Chandigarh extended by one month

The inter-cadre deputation tenure of Vijay Namdeorao Zade (IAS:2002:PB) to the Union Territory of Chandigarh has been extended by one month. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Friday (May 17, 2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the Ministry of Home Affairs’ proposal to extend Zade’s deputation tenure by one month beyond his approved tenure, now up to June 19, 2024.

Currently, Zade is serving as the Finance Secretary in the UT administration, a position he has held since May 2021.

Deputation tenure of two IPS officers serving in CBI extended

The deputation tenure of two IPS officers working in the CBI as DIG and SP has been extended. The competent authority approved the extensions on Thursday (16.05.2024).

They are;

  1. Dr. Sonal Chandra‘s (IPS:2008:TN) deputation tenure as DIG in CBI has been extended for one year beyond 30.06.2024 i.e. from 01.07.2024 to 30.06.2025 (6 years in total).
  2. Murali Rambha‘s (IPS:2011:TN) deputation tenure as SP in CBI has been extended for two years beyond 07.07.2024 i.e. from 08.07.2024 to 07.07.2026 (7 years in total).

Vijayendra Kumar appointed as DIG in CBI

Vijayendra Kumar (IRS:2007), presently working as Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in CBI. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday (16.05.2024), the competent authority has approved the appointment of Vijayendra Kumar for an overall combined tenure (SP+DIG) upto 19.07.2024 (7 years in total) or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Two IPS officers inducted as SP in CBI

Two IPS officers have been inducted as Superintendents of Police in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a combined tenure (SP+DIG) of five years.

They are:

  1. Jashandeep Randhawa (IPS:2012:HY)
  2. Subhash Chandra Jat (IPS:2015:JH)

AYV Krishna inducted in CBI as Additional Director

AYV Krishna (IPS:1995:UP), currently serving as Inspector General (IG) in the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), has been inducted as Additional Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (16.05.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved AYV Krishna’s appointment to this post for a total tenure of five years, up to August 06, 2028.

N Venu Gopal appointed as Additional Director in CBI

N Venu Gopal (IPS:1995:HP), currently serving as Joint Director in the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), has been appointed as Additional Director in the CBI. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (16.05.2024), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved N Venu Gopal’s appointment to this post for a total tenure of five years, up to May 24, 2027.

It is noteworthy that N. Venu Gopal was inducted into the CBI as Joint Director in May 2022.

MHA sanctions prosecution of IPS Officer AB Venkateswara Rao

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) is said to have sanctioned the prosecution of IPS officer AB Venkateswara Rao (IPS:1989:AP) for his alleged irregularities in the procurement of surveillance equipment during his tenure as Additional Director General of Police, Intelligence Department, in Andhra Pradesh.

According to the order, the Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) which conducted a thorough investigation into the case following the request of the MHA, advised initiating prosecution before a competent court of law against AB Venkateswara Rao. The MHA is also of the opinion that the former Intelligence chief has committed offences punishable under the Prevention of Corruption (PC) Act.

A.B. Venkateswara Rao was placed under suspension, and Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials registered an FIR in 2021 under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act for allegedly bypassing procurement rules to purchase equipment worth ₹25.50 crores through a company linked to his son. This was purportedly done under the police modernisation scheme with the intent of causing financial loss to the government and wrongful gain to his son’s company.

IAS officer Aneesh Sekhar withdraws resignation, rejoins service as Director of TNGECL

IAS officer Aneesh Sekhar (IAS:2011:TN) has withdrawn his resignation and has been accepted back into the service by President Droupadi Murmu effective from April 29.

The Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pension has notified the acceptance of his resignation withdrawal. The period from February 29, 2024, until his rejoining the post will be considered ‘dies non’ (not counted as service).

On Thursday, the state government appointed Sekhar as the managing director of the Tamil Nadu Green Energy Corporation Limited (TNGECL), a position previously held by TANGEDCO chairman and managing director Rajesh Lakhoni.

Earlier this year, Aneesh Sekhar had resigned from his position as managing director of ELCOT, citing personal reasons.

IPS R Ponni appointed DIG in CISF

R Ponni (IPS:2008:TN) has been appointed as Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) for five years. According to an order issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), the competent authority has approved the appointment of R Ponni to the post on deputation basis for a period of five years from the date of assumption of the charge of the post or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
