UP: Three IAS officers shifted, Shashank Chaudhary is new Addl CEO of Invest UP

Lucknow, May 15 2025: The Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday issued transfer and posting orders for three Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers.

The names of the officers and their postings are as follows;

  1. Shashank Chaudhary (IAS:2017:UP), who was serving as Municipal Commissioner of Mathura, has been transferred and posted as Additional CEO of Invest UP.
  2. Jag Pravesh (IAS:2018:UP), currently Chief Development Officer (CDO) of Bareilly, has been appointed as the new Municipal Commissioner of Mathura.
  3. Devayani (IAS:2021:UP), who has been serving as Joint Magistrate, Jhansi, has been posted as the new CDO of Bareilly.

Dr. Ajay Kumar assumes charge as UPSC Chairman

Former Defence Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar (Retd. IAS: 1985: KL) on Thursday (15.05.2025) formally assumed charge as Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Lt. Gen. Raj Shukla (Retd.), the senior-most member of the Commission.

An officer of the Kerala cadre, Dr. Kumar brings more than 35 years of experience in public administration across both state and central governments. In Kerala, he served in pivotal roles such as Managing Director of the Electronics and Information Technology Department and Principal Secretary, IT.

At the central level, Dr. Kumar held several key positions including Director in the Department of Science & Technology, Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and IT, Director General of the National Informatics Centre, Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics & IT, and Secretary (Defence Production). His last assignment before retirement was as Defence Secretary.

PESB begins process to appoint new Director (Marketing), MMTC

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on Wednesday (14.05.2025) initiated the selection process for the post of Director (Marketing) at Metals and Minerals Trading Corporation of India (MMTC) Limited by advertising the vacancy. Applications have been invited from eligible and experienced candidates by 10.06.2025.

The post will fall vacant on 01.08.2025 following the superannuation of the incumbent, J Ravi Shanker, on 31.07.2025. He has held the position since June 2018. Initially appointed for a five-year term, he was granted an extension in December 2023 until his retirement.

Prior to joining MMTC, Shanker served as Director (Marketing) at Project and Equipment Corporation of India (PEC) Limited.

PESB begins process to select next CMD of PGCIL

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) on Tuesday (13.05.2025) initiated the process to appoint the next Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) by issuing an advertisement for the post. Applications have been invited from eligible and experienced candidates, with the deadline for submission set for June 9, 2025.

The incumbent CMD, RK Tyagi, is scheduled to retire on March 31, 2026. He took charge on January 1, 2024, succeeding K Sreekant, who led the company from August 2019. As a crucial entity in India’s power transmission sector, the leadership transition at PGCIL is expected to play a significant role in shaping the company’s strategic direction and policy focus.

Anupam Chauhan re-designated as Director in National Medical Commission

New Delhi, May 14, 2025: Anupam Anish Chauhan (ITS:2011), currently serving as Deputy Secretary in the National Medical Commission (NMC) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, has been re-designated as Director.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (13.05.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the re-designation of Chauhan’s post to Director. The change will take effect from the date he assumes charge of the re-designated role and will remain valid until September 25, 2027.

Chauhan began his central deputation on September 26, 2022. Initially, he served as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY), and was later posted to the NMC in the same capacity from March 1, 2024.

Ajit Kumar Mishra appointed Director (Works), IRCON

Ajit Kumar Mishra, currently serving as Executive Director at the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Limited (DFCCIL), has been appointed as Director (Works), IRCON International Limited.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (13.05.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) approved the Ministry of Railways’ proposal to appoint Mishra to the board-level position.

Mishra’s appointment follows the recommendation of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), which shortlisted him for the role on February 1, 2025, after interviewing 11 candidates for the position.

Gopal Krishna Sinha appointed Director (HR), Troop Comforts Limited

Gopal Krishna Sinha, presently serving as Additional General Manager (AGM) in the Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), has been appointed as Director (Human Resources), Troop Comforts Limited (TCL).

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (13.05.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the proposal from the Department of Defence Production.

Gopal Krishna Sinha’s selection follows the recommendation of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), which on November 27, 2024, shortlisted him for the post after interviewing nine candidates.

Rajeev Kalra appointed Director (Finance), Yantra India Ltd

New Delhi, May 14 2025: Rajeev Kalra, presently serving as General Manager at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), has been appointed as Director (Finance), Yantra India Limited (YIL). According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (13.05.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has cleared the proposal from the Department of Defence Production.

Rajeev Kalra’s selection follows the recommendation of the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB), which on January 10, 2025, shortlisted him for the post after interviewing ten candidates.

Niraj Kumar Gayani gets extension as JS in D/o Justice

The central deputation tenure of Niraj Kumar Gayani (IDAS:1997) as Joint Secretary in the Department of Justice has been extended. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (13.05.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved to extend the deputation tenure of Mr Gayani for a combined tenure of six years i.e. upto April 6, 2026 or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

GS Dhillon gets one-year extension as Director, MoHUA

New Delhi, 14 May 2025: The central deputation tenure of Gurjeet Singh Dhillon (IOFS:2002) of the Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs has been extended by one year. According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Tuesday (13.05.2025), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension up to March 25, 2026, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Dhillon has been serving in the Ministry since March 26, 2018, initially appointed for a five-year term. Before the completion of that tenure, he was granted a two-year extension in March 2023. This latest extension marks his continued service for a total of eight years on central deputation.
