New Delhi, 16 May 2025: In a significant development, IAS officer SB Deepak Kumar (IAS:2005:AGMUT) has been appointed as Advisor to the Administrator of Lakshadweep. He will replace Sandeep Kumar (IAS:1997:AGMUT), who has been transferred to Delhi. His posting order is awaited.
The Union Ministry of Home Affairs issued the transfer orders for both officers on Friday.
SB Deepak Kumar is currently serving as Secretary, Health and Family Welfare, in the Delhi government.
New Delhi, May 16 2025: Naval Kishore Ram (IAS:2008:MH), currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Revenue, has been prematurely repatriated to his parent cadre Maharashtra.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Thursday, the competent authority has approved the proposal of the Department of Revenue to repatriate Ram to his cadre on personal grounds. His central deputation was originally scheduled to end on August 10, 2025.
He had taken over as Joint Secretary in the Department of Revenue in August 2024. As per the August 7 appointment order, he was to serve for an overall tenure of five years till August 10, 2025, extendable by two more years subject to cadre clearance. However, his repatriation comes nearly three months ahead of schedule.
Ram began his central deputation as Deputy Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office in August 2020 for a four-year term. He was later elevated to Director in the PMO with effect from January 1, 2022. On June 13, 2024, he was empanelled by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for holding Joint Secretary or equivalent posts in the Government of India, following which he was posted to the Department of Revenue.
New Delhi, May 16 2025: Palaniswamy Subramanyan Karthigeyan was on Thursday appointed as Joint Secretary in the Department of Atomic Energy for a tenure of three years, up to April 6, 2027, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved his appointment.
Currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Karthigeyan was previously India’s High Commissioner to Fiji from January 2021 until December 2024. He was succeeded by Suneet Mehta (IFS:2007). Following his return, he continued in the MEA until his latest posting.

New Delhi, May 15 2025: Senior diplomat Anurag Bhushan (IFS: 1995) was on Thursday (15.05.2025) appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Sweden. Presently, he is serving as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs and is expected to take up the assignment shortly.
In a statement, the MEA said, “Shri Anurag Bhushan (IFS: 1995), presently Additional Secretary in the Ministry, has been appointed as the next Ambassador of India to the Kingdom of Sweden.”
“He is expected to take up the assignment shortly,” the statement added.

New Delhi, 15 May 2025: According to sources, the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) is scheduled to interview candidates on May 21, 2025, for the post of Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of NTPC Limited. It is learnt that 12 candidates have been shortlisted for the interview.
The current CMD, Gurdeep Singh, one of the longest-serving chiefs at India’s largest power generation utility, is set to retire on July 31, 2025. Singh has been at the helm of NTPC since February 2016 and was granted a tenure extension in October 2020, which extended his service until July 31, 2025.

Former Defence Secretary Dr. Ajay Kumar (Retd. IAS: 1985: KL) on Thursday (15.05.2025) formally assumed charge as Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). He was administered the oath of office and secrecy by Lt. Gen. Raj Shukla (Retd.), the senior-most member of the Commission.
An officer of the Kerala cadre, Dr. Kumar brings more than 35 years of experience in public administration across both state and central governments. In Kerala, he served in pivotal roles such as Managing Director of the Electronics and Information Technology Department and Principal Secretary, IT.
