O P Rawat appointed new CEC
Om Prakash Rawat (IAS:1977:MP) appointed as the new chief election commissioner (CEC), a day before the incumbent CEC Achal Kumar Joti demits charge.AK Joti is expected to hand over the reigns of the Election Commission to Rawat on January 23. Rawat,in adherence to the rule, has been appointed as the 22nd CEC by President Ram Nath Kovind on the recommendation of central government.His tenure will end in December this year and Sunil Arora, the senior most commissioner after the CEC, is expected to take over as the head of the poll panel as per convention.
O P Singh appointed as new DGP Uttar Pradesh
