Rohit Kansal (IAS:1995:J&K), Principal Secretary to the Government, Planning, Development and Monitoring Department has been given additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Labour and Employment Department till Saurabh Bhagat (IAS:2002:J&K) remains on election duty as General Observer.

Khurshid Ahmad Shah (IAS:2000:J&K), Commissioner/ Secretary to the Government, Public Works (R&B) Department has been given additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Department of Disaster Management, Relif, Rehabilitation & Reconstruction and Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs till Pandurang Kondbarao Pole (IAS:2004:J&K) remains on election duty as General Observer.

SC Collegium rejects Govt’s objection to appoint 4 advocates as Judges to Karnataka HC, 8 more recommended

The Supreme Court Collegium on Thursday passed two resolutions recommending the appointment of 12 advocates as judges of the Karnataka High Court.

By one resolution, the Collegium has rejected the government’s objection to the elevation of four advocates as judges of the Karnataka High Court. The advocates names who have been recommended are;

  1. Savanur Vishwajith Shetty
  2. Maralur Indrakumar Arun
  3. Mohammed Ghouse Shukure Kamal
  4. Engalaguppe Seetharamaiah Indiresh

By a separate resolution, the Collegium has also recommended the elevation of eight more lawyers as judges to the Karnataka High Court. The advocates so proposed to be elevated are ;

  1. Neranahalli Srinivasan Sanjay Gowda
  2. Mulimani Jyoti
  3. Rangaswamy Nataraj
  4. Nagendra Ramachandra Naik
  5. Chandangoudar Hemant
  6. Ravi Venkappa Hosmani
  7. Pradeep Singh Yerur
  8. Maheshan Nagaprasanna

Collegium recommends elevation of 1 Judicial Officer & 1 Advocate as Judges of Orissa HC

The Supreme Court Collegium on Friday recommended elevation of Advocate Sanjeeb Kumar Panigrahi and District and Sessions Judge Bibhu Prasad Routray as Judges of the Orissa High Court.

Justice VK Sharma is new Punjab Lokpal

Punjab government, on Friday, appointed Vinod Kumar Sharma, retired Justice, Punjab and Haryana High Court, as the new Lokpal.

The post of Lokpal was lying vacant since April 23, 2018 after then Lokpal- Justic Satish Kumar Mittal (retd.) had rsigned from the post. Lokpal holds the office for a term of 6 years.

Centre notifies appointments of Chief Justices in seven High Courts

The Central Government on Thursday notified the appointments of Chief Justices in seven High Courts.

They are :

  1. Justice Ravi Shanker Jha (Judge of Madhya Pradesh HC) as Chief Justice of Punjab and Haryana High Court.
  2. Justice Ajai Lamba (Judge of Allahabad HC) as Chief Justice of Guahati HC.
  3. Justice Arup K Goswami (Judge of Guahati HC) as Chief Justice of Sikkim HC.
  4. Justice Jitendra Kumar Maheshwari ( Judge of Madhya Pradesh HC) as Chief Justice of Andhra Pradesh HC.
  5. Justice L Narayana Swami (Judge of Karnataka HC) as Chief Justice of Himachal Pradesh HC.
  6. Justice S Mani Kumar ( Judge of Madras HC) as Chief Justice of Kerala HC.
  7. Justice Indrajit Mohanty (Judge of Bombay HC) as Chief Justice of Rajasthan HC.

Centre notifies transfer of three High Court judges

The Central Government has notified the transfer of three High Court Judges. Three notification intimate the transfer of Justice Vivek Agarwal, P.V. Sanjay Kumar and Biswanath Somadder.

Justice Vivek Agarwal, presently serving at the Madhya Pradesh High Court, has been transferred to the Allahabad High Court.

Justice Puligorus Venkata Sanjay Kumar, presently serving at the Telangana High Court, has been transferred to the Punjab and Haryana High Court.

Justice Biswanath Somadder, presently serving at the Calcutta High Court, has been transferred to the Allahabad High Court.

None selected for the post of CMD, MMTC Ltd.

The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has failed to find suitable candidate for the post of Chairman and Managing Director, MMTC Limited, at a selection meeting held on October 03, 2019. The PESB interviewed two candidates for the job following which it announced that the administrative ministry/department might choose an appropriate course of action for selection.
