NTPC CMD Gurdeep Singh’s term extended till July 2025

The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has extended the tenure of NTPC Limited’s Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) Gurdeep Singh beyond February 4, 2021, till July 31, 2025. With this, Singh will be the longest-serving CMD of the state-run Maharatna PSU. According to sources, Singh’s second term will start from 4 February 2021 and extended till 31 July 2025 which is the date of his superannuation. He had assumed charge as CMD of NTPC Limited on February 4, 2016.

S M Sahai gets extension as Additional Secretary, NSCS

The deputation tenure of S M Sahai (IPS:1987:JK) as Additional Secretary (in situ) in the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) for a period of one year beyond 23.09.2020 i.e upto 23.09.21 or until further orders.

Abhay Choudhary appointed as Director (Project), Power Grid Corporation of India

Abhay Choudhary has been appointed to the post of Director (Project), Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) till the date of his superannuation i.e 30.06.2024. Presently, he is working as Executive Director PGCIL.

Manasa Prasad Mishra has been appointed to the post of Director (Project & Technical) in National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) till the date of his superannuation i.e 31.07.2023. Presently, he is working as Executive Director, NALCO.

Digambar Sahai has been appointed to the post of Director (Production), Brahmaputra Valley Fertilizer Corporation Limited (BVFCL) till the date of his superannuation i.e 31.08.2022. Presently, he working as Deputy General Manager, BVFCL.

N Gowri Sankara Rao appointed as Director (Finance), MIDHANI

N Gowri Sankara Rao has been appointed to the post of Director (Finance), Mishra Dhatu Nigam Limited (MIDHANI) till the date of his superannuation i.e 31.05.2025. Presently, he is working as Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Limited (RINL).

REC wins four National Awards for Excellence in PSU

In an online program organized by the World HRD Congress on 14th October 2020, REC Limited was conferred four “National Awards for Excellence in PSU” under the categories: (a) CSR initiatives (Social Development) (b) ICT initiatives (c) HR Excellence and (d) Environment & Sustainability.

The award nominations witnessed more than 60 entries across various categories.National Awards for Excellence in PSU is for outstanding initiatives taken by government departments, PSUs, Industry leaders, PSU across the country are under transformation by imbibing best global practices, agile and scalable technology intervention and embedding innovation as an integral part of their journey. The award ceremony was organized virtually and was attended by senior dignitaries from various CPSEs and the esteemed jury members.

Centre mandates all ministries, public departments, CPSUs to use BSNL, MTNL services

The central government has mandated All ministries, public departments and public sector units have to use telecom services of state-run Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) and Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL). A memorandum issued by the Department of Telecommunication (DoT) announces the Government of India’s inter-alia approval of mandatory utilisation of capacities of BSNL and MTNL by all ministries/ departments of Govt. Of India, CPSEs and Central autonomous bodies. This decision regarding mandatory use of BSNL and MTNL telecom service was taken by the Cabinet.

The order comes as a relief for the loss making state-run telecom firms who have been losing their wireline subscriber base. BSNL recorded a loss of Rs 15,500 crore and MTNL posted a loss of Rs 3,694 crore in 2019-20.

BSNL’s wireline subscriber base has eroded from 2.9 crore in November 2008, to around 80 lakh in July this year. MTNL’s fixed line customers have come down from 35.4 lakh in November 2008, to 30.7 lakh in July this year.

State-run telecom firm BSNL has raised more than Rs 8,500 crore through sovereign guarantee bonds to expand its network and manage operational expenses. MTNL is yet to raise Rs 6,500 crore through sovereign bonds which was approved by the Cabinet in October 2019, as part of its revival package.

IPS office Yogesh Gupta is new Special Director (Adjudication), ED, New Delhi

The Senior IPS officer Yogesh Gupta (IPS:1993:KL) is assuming the charge as Enforcement Directorate’s Special Director (Adjudication) in New Delhi, from his previous posting as Special Director, ED in Kolkata. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet( ACC) made an announcement of this effect recently.

The ACC has assigned the additional charge of Special Director of Kolkata to Vivek Wadekar (IRS-IT:1991), who is Gupta’s successor in the Enforcement Directorate. He was appointed as Special Director in ED for five years in March 2018.

Top government sources claim that Yogesh Gupta is likely to work closely with the intelligence division of the enforcement directorate. Prior to joining ED, Gupta was posted as Inspector General of Police (IGP) of the armed police battalion and CMD of Kerala Financial Corporation.

Tamil Nadu : Chief Secretary K Shanmugam gets three months extension

The Centre on Wednesday approved the Tamil Nadu government’s request for the extension of service of the state Chief Secretary K Shanmugam (IAS:1985:TN), in view of the Coivd-19 situation. His services have been extended for three months till January 31, 2021. The Tamil Nadu government had written to the Centre seeking extension of service for Shanmugam on August 13. He was scheduled to retire this October 31 but now his term has been extended till January 31, 2021. This is the second extension for Shanmugam who was to retire from service on July 31 this year. He assumed the office of Chief Secretary on July 1, 2019.
