In a significant development in Bihar’s administrative and police establishment, three senior officers, including Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Vinay Kumar, BPSC Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai and BPSSC Chairman KS Dwivedi, have proceeded on leave.
Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar (IPS:1991:BH) has proceeded on a 21-day leave from September 15 to October 5, 2026. During his absence, Preeta Verma (IPS:1991:BH) will hold the additional charge of Acting DGP along with her existing responsibilities as Director General of Home Guards and Fire Services.
According to the Home Department order, Kumar’s leave has been sanctioned due to unavoidable personal and health reasons. During the period, Verma will oversee the functioning of Police Headquarters and discharge the responsibilities attached to the office of the DGP.
Kumar, who was appointed Bihar DGP in December 2024, is scheduled to complete his two-year tenure on December 12, 2026.
Meanwhile, Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) Chairman Parmar Ravi Manubhai (Retd. IAS:1992:BH) has also proceeded on leave. He will remain on leave from September 15 to October 9, 2026, citing personal reasons.
The additional charge of BPSC Chairman has been entrusted to Harjot Kaur Bamhra (IAS:1992:BH), Chairperson-cum-Member of the Board of Revenue.
Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission (BPSSC) Chairman KS Dwivedi (Retd. IPS:1984:BH) has also proceeded on one-month leave, citing family reasons. The government has not yet assigned the additional charge of BPSSC Chairman to any officer.
