The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has granted a two-year extension to the tenure of Ashwini Kumar Tewari, Managing Director of the State Bank of India (SBI). This extension will continue beyond January 27, 2024, as per an official order issued by the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).

Ashwini Kumar Tewari assumed the role of SBI Managing Director in January 2021. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Managing Director & CEO of SBI Card. Starting from April 2017, Tewari held the position of Country Head of US operations at SBI, based in New York.

It is worth noting that the extension of Ashwini Kumar Tewari’s tenure as SBI MD coincides with the Central Government’s decision to extend the tenure of SBI Chairman Dinesh Kumar Khara until he reaches the age of 63 years.
