Chennai: K Phanindra Reddy, a retired IAS officer, has been appointed Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA) as the Tamil Nadu government has reconstituted the state’s real estate regulatory body.
According to an order issued by the Housing and Urban Development Department, retired IAS officers Reeta Harish Thakkar and Mythili K Rajendran, retired district judge S Kirubaharan Mathuram, and retired Engineer-in-Chief KP Sathyamurthy have been appointed as members of the authority. The appointments were made following recommendations from the selection committee constituted for the purpose.
Reddy had earlier been appointed interim Chairperson of TNRERA after the state government superseded the authority in July 2026. During the interim arrangement, retired district judge A. Nazir Ahamed and Reeta Harish Thakkar were appointed as members for six months or until the authority was reconstituted, whichever was earlier. The arrangement was made under Section 82 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016.
The latest reconstitution follows the resignations of former Chairperson Shiv Das Meena, a retired IAS officer who had held the post since August 18, 2024, and members L. Subramanian, D. Jagannathan, advocate M. Krishnamoorthy, and Sukumar Chittibabu, a former Chief Revenue Officer of the Greater Chennai Corporation.
TNRERA is a statutory authority established under the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, to regulate the real estate sector in Tamil Nadu.
