New Delhi, September 28, 2026: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has handed over Balsane Power Transmission Limited, the project-specific Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for an intra-state transmission project in Maharashtra, to M/s Resonia Limited.
The handover took place on 28th September 2026. REC Limited is a Maharatna CPSU under the Ministry of Power.
M/s Resonia Limited was selected as the successful bidder through the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process conducted by RECPDCL in its role as the Bid Process Coordinator. The project is being developed for Maharashtra’s intra-state transmission system on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The SPV was formally handed over by Shri Anil Kumar Perala, Deputy General Manager (Engg.), RECPDCL, to Shri Tushar Chhabra, Head – Business Acquisition, Resonia Limited. Officials from Resonia Limited, Maharashtra STU and RECPDCL were also present during the handover.
The transmission project includes the establishment of a 765/400/220 kV AIS substation at Balsane in District Dhule. It also includes a 400 kV D/C line of around 106 km connecting the 765 kV AIS Balsane to 400 kV Malegaon (Proposed).
In addition, the project envisages a 220 kV D/C line of around 50 km from the 765 kV AIS Balsane to 220 kV Shivajinagar and 220 kV Vikharan, along with associated works.
The scheduled implementation period for the project is 24 months.
