Vice President C P Radhakrishnan asked the IAS officers, undergoing training at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration (LBSNAA) at Mussoorie, to imbibe the “spirit of service and a sense of duty” as their guiding mantra in life.
He was addressing a valedictory ceremony of the 2024 batch of trainee IAS officers at the LBSNAA on Thursday. The function was organized to mark the completion of their second phase of training.
The VP highlighted the crucial role played by civil servants in implementing national policies at the grassroots level.
While referring to the country’s resolve of ‘Viksit Bharat 2047’ (Developed India 2047), the VP called upon the young trainee civil servants to ensure that the benefits of every developmental initiative reach the last person in society.
Radhakrishnan also told young bureaucrats to strive for team excellence rather than individual excellence, highlighting the significance of building empowered and coordinated teams and carrying forward the best practices established by their predecessors.
The VP admired the increasing participation of women in the civil services and described it as an impressive proof of ‘Nari Shakti’ (women’s power).
He told them that talent rises above stereotypes and overcomes obstacles through determination, and that is the reason why women constitute approximately 41 percent of the 2024 batch.
He also urged the young officers to adopt emerging technologies—such as Artificial Intelligence, Natural Language Processing, Machine Learning, and blockchain—to ensure efficiency, transparency, and better delivery of citizen services in administration.
