While addressing secretaries of the central government on Thursday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need for closer collaboration across government departments and universities to bring fresh perspectives of young people into policymaking.
Modi was chairing his third high-level meeting with secretaries. He asked senior bureaucrats to adopt a long-term approach in policymaking and empower India in shaping its future evolution.
The PM also called for greater use of artificial intelligence but cautioned that it should be done without being unmindful of human intervention and judgement.
He highlighted data as a national asset and called for prudence in differentiating between how data is collected and managed for different purposes. The PM called for solutions to improve interoperability and more effective use of data in governance.
PM Modi urged officials to change the mindset and move beyond working in silos. He called for a greater sense of belongingness and stronger coordination across departments.
He also stressed the importance of informal interactions and team-building among senior officials.
The senior civil servants also shared their views on govt policies and challenges faced during their implementations.
