Atmaram Vasudeo Deshpande Appointed Joint CP, Rashtrapati Bhawan, Replacing Veenu Bansal

IPS officer Atmaram Vasudeo Deshpande has been appointed Joint Commissioner of Police, Rashtrapati Bhawan, replacing Veenu Bansal.

New Delhi: IPS Officer Atmaram Vasudeo Deshpande (IPS:2006:AGMUT) has been appointed as Joint Commissioner of Police, Rashtrapati Bhawan, replacing Veenu Bansal (IPS:2004:AGMUT).

The appointment was made on the recommendation of the Police Establishment Board. Deshpande was previously serving as Joint Commissioner of Police, Operations (PCR & Communication), Delhi Police, while also holding the additional charge of Licensing.

Deshpande succeeds Veenu Bansal, who was recently removed from the post following serious allegations of misconduct and a controversy over protocol involving Army officers.

The post of Joint Commissioner of Police, Rashtrapati Bhawan, is considered one of the most sensitive assignments in the Delhi Police. The officer is responsible for overseeing the security of the President’s Estate, coordinating VIP and ceremonial security arrangements, managing security during national and international events, and maintaining close coordination with agencies such as the President’s Bodyguard, Army units deployed at Rashtrapati Bhawan and, wherever required, the Special Protection Group (SPG).
