New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) on Wednesday (August 5, 2026) approved 10 appointments and one extension for filling up various foreign and captive posts of the Government of India at the Deputy Secretary, Director and Joint Secretary levels.
1. Baldeo Purushartha (IAS:2002:PB), Joint Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, has been appointed as Senior Adviser to the Executive Director, Asian Development Bank (ADB), Manila, Philippines, for a period of three years, vice Ponnuraj V (IAS:2000:KN). His central deputation as Joint Secretary under the Central Staffing Scheme will be curtailed.
2. Rahul Jain (IAS:2005:MP), Joint Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, has been appointed as Senior Adviser to the Executive Director (India), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Washington D.C., USA, for a period of three years, vice Anand Singh (IAS:2000:KL). His central deputation will be curtailed.
3. Brij Mohan Mishra (IAS:2008:AGMUT), Joint Secretary, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has been appointed as Minister (Economic & Commercial), Embassy of India, Tokyo, for a period of three years, vice Ms Debjani Chakrabarti (IAS:2002:OD), on completion of her approved tenure on April 28, 2027. His central deputation will be curtailed.
4. Balamurugan D. (IAS:2005:BH), Joint Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, has been appointed as Minister (Agriculture), Embassy of India, Rome, for a period of three years, vice Vijayaraghava Balaji (IAS:2001:AM), on completion of his approved tenure on December 29, 2026. His central deputation will be curtailed.
5. Satyajit Mohanty (IRS-C&IT:1999), Joint Secretary, Ministry of Defence, has been appointed as Representative of India to the Council of International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), Montreal, Canada, for a period of three years, vice Angshumali Rastogi (IRSME:1995), on completion of his approved tenure on April 4, 2026. His central deputation will be curtailed.
6. The ACC has approved a two-year extension in the foreign deputation tenure of Hemang Jani as Senior Adviser to the Executive Director, World Bank, Washington D.C., USA, beyond June 16, 2027, i.e. up to June 16, 2029, or until assumption of charge by his successor, whichever is earlier. Notably, on July 15, 2026, just before completion of three-year tenure, his tenure was extended for one year i.e. July 16, 2027.
7. Kapil Patidar (IES:2011), Director, Department of Economic Affairs, has been appointed as Adviser to the Executive Director (India), International Monetary Fund (IMF), Washington D.C., USA, for a period of three years. His central deputation as Director under the Central Staffing Scheme will be curtailed.
8. Gopalakrishnan Ganesan (IRAS:2009), Director, Ministry of Steel, has been appointed as Counsellor (Economic), Economic Wing, Embassy of India, Washington D.C., USA, for a period of three years, vice Vivek Chaudhary (IES:2011), on completion of his approved tenure on August 15, 2026. His central deputation will be curtailed.
9. Aditya Rajendra Bhojgadhiya (IA&AS:2013), Joint Director, National Testing Agency, has been appointed as First Secretary, Permanent Mission of India to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Geneva, for a period of three years, vice Ashish Chandolkar, on completion of his approved tenure on September 2, 2026. His central deputation will be curtailed.
10. Jivisha Joshi Gangopadhyay (IRTS:2013), Deputy Secretary, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, has been appointed as First Secretary (Legal), Permanent Mission of India to the World Trade Organization (WTO), Geneva, for a period of three years, vice Ms Nidhi Srivastava (IAS:2010:AGMUT), on completion of her approved tenure on August 28, 2026. Her central deputation will be curtailed.
11. Subhash Kumar (IDAS:2011), Director, Ministry of Defence, has been appointed as Director, SAARC Secretariat, Kathmandu, Nepal, for a period of three years, vice Bhavesh R. Trivedi (ITS:2000), on completion of his approved tenure on November 20, 2026. His central deputation will be curtailed.
