Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government has extended the tenure of Ram Subhag Singh (Retd. IAS:1987:HP) as Principal Adviser to Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu by another two years with effect from August 1, 2026. Notably, this is the third consecutive extension granted to the retired IAS officer since his appointment after retirement.
Singh, a 1987-batch Indian Administrative Service officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre and former Chief Secretary, was appointed as the Chief Minister’s Principal Adviser immediately after his superannuation on July 31, 2023.
He was first granted an extension in September 2024, followed by another one-year extension in August 2025. The latest order extends his tenure by two years from August 1, 2026.
According to the state government, Ram Subhag Singh has been playing a key role in realising the Chief Minister’s vision of a financially self-reliant Himachal Pradesh, systematic transformation of governance, key reforms in the power sector, and strengthening social welfare initiatives.
