New Delhi: Sanjay Banga, Chairman & Managing Director of Cement Corporation of India Limited (CCI), has been recommended for appointment as Chairman & Managing Director (CMD) of Telecommunications Consultants (India) Limited (TCIL) by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB).
The recommendation was made during the PESB selection meeting held on Friday (July 31, 2026).
His name will now be forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval. The appointment will be subject to vigilance clearance and completion of other prescribed formalities.
The post of CMD at TCIL has been lying vacant since the retirement of Sanjeev Kumar in January 2026, who had served as CMD since January 2021. Following his retirement, Syed Tausif Abbas has been holding the additional charge of the CMD post since January 27, 2026.
A total of two candidates appeared before the PESB selection panel. Besides Sanjay Banga, Surjit Mandol, Director (Finance), TCIL, was also interviewed for the post.
