New Delhi: The appointment of Anurag Kumar (IPS:1994:AGMUT) as the new Commissioner of Delhi Police on Friday (July 17, 2026) and the premature replacement of Satish Golcha (IPS:1992:AGMUT) have once again triggered discussions in Delhi’s administrative and policing circles.

While the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has not assigned any reason for the change, the latest development has revived conversations around a series of high-profile transfers involving senior Delhi Police officers since May 2026.

The first major development came in early May 2026, when Madhup Kumar Tiwari (IPS:1995:AGMUT), then Special Commissioner of Police (Law & Order, Zone-II), Delhi Police, was transferred to Arunachal Pradesh. The move had generated considerable discussion within Delhi Police and bureaucratic circles.

Days later, on May 13, 2026, Ravindra Singh Yadav (IPS:1995:AGMUT), then Special Commissioner of Police (Law & Order, Zone-I), Delhi Police, was transferred to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and appointed as Director General of Police (DGP).

Whether the developments are merely coincidental or part of a broader administrative exercise has become a subject of discussion in the national capital’s power corridors.
