Hemang Jani gets one year extension as Senior Advisor to World Bank Executive Director

The Centre has approved a one-year extension in the foreign deputation tenure of Hemang Jani as Senior Advisor to the Executive Director, World Bank, Washington D.C., until July 16, 2027.

New Delhi: The foreign deputation tenure of Hemang Jani as Senior Advisor to the Executive Director, World Bank, Washington D.C., USA, has been extended by one year.

According to an order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) on Wednesday (July 15, 2026), the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the proposal of the Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, to extend his tenure for a period of one year beyond July 16, 2026, i.e. up to July 16, 2027, or until the assumption of charge of the post by his successor, whichever is earlier.

Notably, Jani was appointed as Senior Advisor (JS level) to the Executive Director, World Bank, on May 30, 2023. He assumed charge of the post on July 16, 2023, for a tenure of three years, which was scheduled to end on July 16, 2026. The ACC has now approved a one-year extension in his foreign deputation.
