The Tamil Nadu government has appointed retired IAS officer K Phanindra Reddy as Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TNRERA).
The appointment comes after the government decided to supersede the Authority for six months or till it is reconstituted, whichever is earlier.
Retired District Judge A Nazir Ahamed and retired IAS officer Reeta Harish Thakkar have also been appointed as Members. The Housing and Urban Development Department issued the order on Tuesday (July 14, 2026).
The government invoked Section 82 of the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016, for superseding the Authority.
The new Chairperson and Members will discharge the functions of the Authority during this period.
The entire Authority had resigned earlier.
Former Chairperson Shiv Das Meena (Retd. IAS), who took charge in August 2024, stepped down along with Members L Subramanian (Retd. IAS), D Jagannathan (Retd. IAS), M Krishnamoorthy and Sukumar Chittibabu.
Their resignations came after the change of regime in Tamil Nadu.
