Sanjay Lohiya IAS

Senior IAS officer Sanjay Lohiya (IAS:1994:AM) on Monday (June 1, 2026) assumed charge as Secretary, Department of Financial Services (DFS), succeeding M Nagaraju (IAS:1993:TR) following his retirement and marking a key leadership transition in the department overseeing India’s banking and financial services sector.

His appointment follows the Centre’s major bureaucratic reshuffle announced on March 31, 2026.

Before assuming the top position, Lohiya briefly served as Special Secretary in the Department of Financial Services. The position was created by temporarily upgrading a Joint Secretary-level post to facilitate a smooth leadership transition.

Prior to joining DFS, Lohiya served as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Mines.
