CBDT orders major reshuffle in Income Tax Department; transfers, promotions and additional charges announced

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) on Monday (May 18, 2026) issued a major transfer and posting order in the grade of Commissioner of Income Tax (CIT) and Director of Income Tax. The order includes promotions, transfers, inter-regional postings and additional charge arrangements involving a large number of officers across various regions of the country. The postings have been made with immediate effect and will remain in force until further orders.
