More candidates from the OBC, SC and ST categories have been inducted into the Indian Police Service (IPS) than into the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and the Indian Forest Service (IFS) during the past five years, the government informed the Rajya Sabha.
In a written reply, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, Jitendra Singh, stated that between 2020 and 2024, a total of 255 OBC, 141 SC and 71 ST candidates were allocated across the three All India Services after clearing the Civil Services Examination.
During the same period, 245 OBC candidates were appointed to the IAS, while 135 SC candidates joined the IPS and 67 ST candidates were allocated to the IFS.
Specifically in the IFS, the data showed that 231 OBC, 95 SC and 48 ST candidates were inducted over the last five years, reflecting continued representation of reserved categories in forest administration.
