The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) has recommended Chandrasekharan Raghuram for appointment as Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Shipyard Limited (HSL). The recommendation was made after interviews conducted by the PESB on January 28, 2026.
Chandrasekharan Raghuram is currently serving as Assistant Chief of Material in the Indian Navy. His name will now be forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval, subject to vigilance clearance and completion of other prescribed formalities.
At present, Cmde Girideep Singh is holding additional charge of the CMD post following the superannuation of incumbent Cmde Hemant Khatri on July 31, 2025. It may be recalled that in an earlier selection meeting held on June 26, 2025, the PESB had not found any suitable candidate for the CMD post of HSL after interviewing candidates. Consequently, the Board had advised the Administrative Ministry/Department to explore alternative methods for selection, including the option of forming a Search-cum-Selection Committee (SCSC) or any other route, subject to approval of the competent authority.
