The Centre has approved the extension of central deputation tenure for 17 IAS and IFoS officers serving as Director Census Operations/Director Citizen Registration (DCO/DCR) across multiple States and Union Territories. The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) issued separate orders on Thursday (December 11, 2025), confirming that each officer will continue in their respective postings beyond their current tenure, with extensions ranging from early 2026 to as far as March 2030. All extensions are subject to the admissible tenure under the Central Staffing Scheme or until further orders.
According to the notifications, Swadha Dev Singh (IAS:2014:OD) has received one of the longest extensions, with her deputation at RGI (Hqrs), New Delhi, now valid until March 31, 2030. Similar long-term extensions have been granted to Amit Sharma (IAS:2012:AGMUT), posted in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, also extended until March 31, 2030, and Purva Garg (IAS:2015:AGMUT), serving in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, whose tenure is now extended till August 10, 2028.
Several senior officers from the 2010 and 2011 batches have also been granted fresh tenure, including Iva Ashish Srivastava (IAS:2010:UK) for Uttarakhand, J Nivas (IAS:2010:AP) for Andhra Pradesh, Karma R Bonpo (IAS:2010:SK) for Sikkim, Bharati Holikeri (IAS:2010:TG) for Telangana, and Prabhat Kumar (IAS:2011:JH) for Jharkhand.
Extensions have further been approved for Lalit Jain (IAS:2011:HP) in Haryana, Sujal Jayantibhai Mayatra (IAS:2011:GJ) for Gujarat, Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli and Kartikeya Goel (IAS:2011:CH) for Chhattisgarh.
In addition, tenure extensions have been cleared for Nikhil Pavan Kalyan (IAS:2012:OD) in Odisha, M Sundaresh Babu (IAS:2012:KN) in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, Navjot Khosa (IAS:2012:KL) in Punjab & Chandigarh, and Zasekuolie Chusi (IAS:2015:NL) in Nagaland. Cheshta Yadav (IAS:2014:AGMUT), who holds additional charge as DCO/DCR in Goa, will continue until August 17, 2028 and Deep Shikha Sharma (IFoS:2011:AGMUT) for Himachal Pradesh.
The DoPT stated that each extension has been approved by the competent authority to ensure continuity in Census and Citizen Registration functions across the country.
