The Joint Coordination Committee (JCC) has called off its ongoing Pen Down and Tools Down strike after the Nagaland Government assured that it would revisit the issue of IAS induction for Non-State Civil Service (Non-SCS) officers.
The decision came following a press release issued by the Chief Secretary on November 6, in which the state government announced that the Cabinet would review all previous decisions concerning the eligibility criteria for Non-SCS officers’ induction into the IAS. The review aims to ensure transparency and incorporate the views of all stakeholders before arriving at a final decision.
Following this assurance, the JCC resolved to suspend the strike in good faith, expressing confidence that the government would uphold transparency and meritocracy in the selection process. The strike, which had caused significant disruption in several departments, was launched to protest alleged deviations from merit-based norms in the induction process.
With the government’s assurance, normal functioning of government offices across Nagaland is expected to resume shortly.
