Senior IPS officer Praveer Ranjan (IPS:1993:AGMUT) has been appointed as the next Director General (DG) of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The central government issued the appointment order on Friday (September 19, 2025). He will succeed Rajwinder Singh Bhatti (IPS:1990:BH), who is set to retire on September 30, 2025.

As www.legendofficers.com had reported earlier on September 6, Ranjan was among the frontrunners for the coveted CISF top post, and the prediction has now been confirmed.

According to the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), Ranjan, who is currently serving as Special DG in CISF, has been appointed to the post in Level 16 of the Pay Matrix from the date he assumes charge, and his tenure will continue until July 31, 2029, the date of his superannuation, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Ranjan joined CISF as Additional DG in February 2024 and was later elevated to Special DG. Prior to this, he served as the Director General of Police (DGP) of UT Chandigarh.
