The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has appointed three Chief General Managers—Amit Pradhan, Avneesh Pandey, and Sanjay Chandrakant Purao—as Executive Directors, each taking office on Friday, August 22, according to official press releases and media reports.
Assigned Responsibilities:
- Amit Pradhan will lead the Legal Affairs Department (Vertical I) and the Prosecution & Settlement Department. He brings nearly 28 years of experience in legal and regulatory affairs, including key roles such as Regional Director of SEBI’s Northern Regional Office in New Delhi, and leadership of SEBI’s Legal Affairs Department.
- Avneesh Pandey has been assigned to head the Information Technology Department (ITD). His expertise spans three decades in securities market regulation, with special focus on IT strategy, business process innovation, big data analytics, SupTech, cybersecurity, and IT audits.
- Sanjay Chandrakant Purao will oversee the Corporation Finance Investigation Department, Recovery & Refund Department, and Internal Investigation Department. Since joining SEBI in 1996, he has contributed across functions including surveillance, market regulation, investment management, and corporate finance, and has also led SEBI’s Hyderabad office. Additionally, he has been part of domestic policymaking groups and international regulatory committees.
