A New Name for IAS Officers’ Body

People say, ” What’s in a name? “. But for most of us , it’s our identity. So to strengthen their identity and to shed the traces of colonial era colors, the Indian Civil & Administrative Services (Central) Association has been renamed as IAS Association. This is being done to highlight the Indian ethos and to bring in a new nomenclatur. An unanimous decision in this regard was taken in the Association’s General Body meeting under the Presidentship of Durgashankar Mishra, the Houseing and Urban Affairs Secretary, Govt. of India and an IAS Officer of 1984 batch of UP Cadre. He further elaborated on it’s motto ‘, Yoga Karmasu Kaushalam’ (Perfection in action is Yoga), taken from the Bhagwatgita, used for long by the association and to be kept and adopted further as a gift from the predecessors and past generations of IAS.

There are 5,205 IAS officers working across the country. The IAS association is an organisation of both the serving and retired members of the service.
