Young IPS officer dies in road accident on way to join first posting in Karnataka

In a tragic incident a young IPS officer of Karnataka cadre, Harsh Bardhan, died in a road accident while on his way to join his first posting on Sunday. The accident occurred when the police vehicle carrying him hit a house and a tree leaving him fatally injured at Hassan taluk. Harsh Bardhan later succumbed to his injuries in a hospital.

According to his father Akhilesh Singh, posted as SDM in Devsar town of Madhya Pradesh, the last rites of the 26-year-old deceased will be performed at Saharsa in Bihar.

A 2023-batch IPS officer, Harsh Bardhan, was a bright student and had cleared the civil services examination in his maiden attempt. The IPS officer had recently completed his four-week training at the Karnataka Police Academy in Mysuru.

According to Karnataka Police, Harsh Bardhan was on his way to Hassan to join duty as a probationary Assistant Superintendent of Police in Holenarasipur.

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav called it a loss for the nation. In an emotional condolence he shared on X, the CM said, “The departure of a young officer of the Indian Police Service in this manner is definitely a loss for the nation. I offer my deepest condolences to the bereaved family and pray to Baba Mahakal to grant salvation and peace to the departed soul.”
