Who will replace Tamil Nadu DGP C Sylendra Babu (IPS:1987:TN) as he retires on 30 June 2023? The picture is still unclear but according to buzz in the power corridors, two senior IPS officers are the top contenders for the post. These two officers are Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora (IPS:1988:TN) and Chennai Police Commissioner Shankar Jaiwal (IPS:1990:TN). Although Delhi Police Commissioner Arora, who is from the Tamil Nadu cadre, seems to be ahead in the race.
Arora was abruptly posted to Delhi Police as its Commissioner last year on an inter-cadre deputation while serving as the Director General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). According to our sources, he has expressed interest in the position and consented to be included in the list of contenders.
