IPS officer Virendra (IPS:1985:WB) was on Wednesday appointed as the Advisor to West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company (WBSEDCL) in the rank of DGP. He will relieve IPS Ajey Mukund Ranade (IPS:1995:WB) from his additional charge as Advisor (Security & Vigilance), WBSEDCL.
The appointment comes a day after Election Commission removed Virendra from his post of Director General of Police of poll-bound West Bengal, and appointed P Nirajnayan (IPS:1987:WB) in his place.
