The West Bengal government has requested the Centre to extend the tenure of Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay (IAS:1987:WB) by three months, citing the need of continuity at the helm of the state administration to fight the second wave of Covid-19. He is set to retire on May 31, 2021.
