WB: Former Chief Secretary BP Gopalika assigned new roles

Former Chief Secretary BP Gopalika has been entrusted with new responsibilities in West Bengal for the next three years

The West Bengal government has appointed retired IAS officer and former Chief Secretary BP Gopalika (Retd. IAS:1989:WB) as the new Chairman of the West Bengal Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (WBIIDC) and Managing Director of the State Highway Development Corporation.

He will also hold the additional charge of Chief Adviser to Chief Minister on Project Monitoring for a period of three years.

The order was issued on 31 August the same date when he retired from the post of Chief Secretary, with Manoj Pant (IAS:1991:WB) succeeding him as top bureaucrat of the state.

Gopalika was originally scheduled to retire on May 31, but given three months extension until 31 August, 2024.

Pay and other terms and conditions of the appointment shall be determined in consultation with the Finance Department in due course.
